An illustration is worth a thousand words because it can tell an entire story in a moment. From epic tales, to a single important feeling, illustration allows a peek inside the soul of an artist.

Stories from Kyoto

During my undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan, I traveled to Kyoto Japan to study Japanese comic arts or, Manga.

Due to my questionable written Japanese, I set out to tell my stories there with no words. It was 20 years ago and my skills have evolved since then, but I learned a lot about Western vs Eastern storytelling, and traditional comic arts techniques.

​

This time was immeasurably valuable, and I'm forever grateful for experience.
